Is this the secret to success?

Hello dear parents and guardians!

This Math Teacher Mr Hooper.

We all need a little kindness and support.

Students have been working on social skills in math class over the last week. Our students have been doing a great job greeting and praising each other during partner and group work time. Here's is an example.

Support from home.

I owe all our parents and guardians a great debt of gratitude. I can tell my students are well supported at home. I have noticed school supplies, clean backpacks, and well-turned-out young people. 

Here's a list of supplies I ask all students to carry to class every day. If anyone needs help accessing supplies, just ask. We have extras here on campus. I know there's no end to the demands on your family's time and resources.

We can also help with any personal grooming needs, such as toothpaste and shampoo, so our young people keep high personal standards.

This is a great place to start.

I tell students that at least half of their success in life comes from simply showing up consistently, on time and ready. Supplies, appearance, and attendance matter.

To keep this going, please ask your student to perform a backpack check in front of you every week. Is the backpack neat and organized? Does your student treat their valuable books and supplies with respect? What do they need? And how can we (Mr Hooper and Skirball) help?
